CRAFT BEER

This was a brief set during a design internship. I created Toast, a craft beer brand built on bold energy and rebellion. The devil toast mascot and the line Raise Hell, Raise Glasses form the core identity, made to stand out and spread mayhem.

The project began with sketchbook explorations of names, flavours, word marks and characters. Early drawings allowed me to map out a playful, loud and cheeky tone. These roughs shaped the direction for both the logo and the character system.

The logo combines a strong word mark with the devil toast mascot. Together they create a flexible identity system that works in colour, black & white and across formats. The character is designed to give the brand a face, while the word mark keeps it clear and grounded.

From my sketches, I developed a set of characters tied to flavours. Each has its own personality from Proper Tart to Jammy Git. They were designed to make the brand playful, cheeky, and expandable into cans as well as campaigns and merchandise.

The characters come alive on packaging as each design uses the mascots to separate flavours, while the style and word mark keep it on brand. These were designed to be bold, fun and consistent.

This project was a fun way to explore character illustration. I learned how characters can carry a full identity system and how to balance playfulness with strong brand consistency across applications.
